Pop S'Mores
Recipe By Budiak
Here is truly one of my favorites recipes. It is remarkably simple and as delicious
as it is simple. It is one of those dishes that you'll serve to all of your idiot friends
and they'll eat it all and wonder where the rest is, but there won't be any 'rest', because not
only are your friends idiots, but they're gluttons, too. But enough about me, seriously, lets
get to the food.
You won't need a lot of ingredients. What you do need is two boxes of Marshmallow S'Mores
flavored toaster pastries, a big sack of fluffy marshmallows, and a couple flat chocolate bars.
Nothing fancy. The cheaper the better. But not really cheap, because wax doesn't melt as well
as chocolate does. So if some kid walks up to your door selling candy bars so his school can buy
some microscopes or something, tell him 'No' and then mumble something about truancy as you close
the door.
I can tell that I'm boring you to tears, so I'll show you the picture before the instructions.
Happy?
So the instructions are easy. Take a toaster pastry and lay it on a microwave safe plate. Put a chocolate bar, bitten
to size the pastry, on the pastry. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and
lay a solid foundation of marshmallows on top of the chocolate, the marshmallows perpendicular to the
pastries. Lay another Pastry on top and make sure it is secure.
This is where it gets hairy. Put the entire assembly into the microwave and heat on high with the timer set to,
oh, seven minutes. Trust me. Stand there with your face against the glass because you're
going to have to watch more closely than you want to. Everything will seem to be going fine...and then you'll
notice some drastic changes occurring. The air in the marshmallows starts expanding at an alarming rate after about one minute.
You'll need to hold on as this happens, because it is a vital and frightening process. They're going to
puff, and puff, and puff. As soon as you see the chocolate start to bubble, it'll be done. This should happen at
about 1:20.
When you take it out of the microwave, beware. It is unbelievably hot and the marshmallow will burn relentlessly as
it sticks to your flesh like napalm.
Serve on paper towels or tiny plates either singly or stacked as shown. Enjoy.
